First Blog on my Etsy Shop

What’s Etsy????… let me explain,

It’s the coolest shopping website online, IT’S ALL HANDMADE…

Its kinda like Ebay, but NO AUCTIONS…just a STOREYOUR STORE..or in my case, MY STORE.

20 cent listing fee…WAIT!!! there’s a catch..

You have to make the items youself… HANDMADE GOODS…..CRAFTS…ANYTHING YOU WANT…Truly?

Isn’t this unbelievable!!!

Seriously, EVERYTHING…ONE OF A KIND!!!!

Etsy has motivated me to make stuff…..

be creative…..

I just received a new sewing machine –  (thanks to my mom – a birthday gift) 🙂   Love her…

I have made one over-the-shoulder bag with some material and pattern that my mom let me have. : )

I sewed the strap on wrong after my husband spend about an hour reversing the fabric for me. He is my Hero….learned many mistakes on that project, but only to make a better one next time…. For my first project, not bad…

I have also spent time the my knitting needles. Re-learning how to knit. I don’t think I have ever finished a knitting project until about a week ago.

My First Pocket Purse…dsc019351

This pocket purse got sent to a friend Sarah, in Germany, with a piece of jewelry I made for her too.

Green Beans, Potatoes & Garbanzo Beans in Cauliflower Sauce: Recipe

Green Beans, Potatoes and Garbanzo Beans and Cauliflower Sauce Recipe with

Spicy Onion Relish

I modified a recipe I got from Fatfree Vegan Kitchen

For the original recipe click here:

The Original Recipe from Fatfree Vegan Kitchen

My Version-

Ingredients:

Cauliflower Sauce:

  • 1 small head cauliflower, cut into pieces
  • 3 1/2 cups water + reserve (water) from Garbanzo Beans
  • 4 large cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Main Meal:

  • 1 cups cooked garbanzo beans
  • 2-3 medium red potatoes, chopped into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 2 cups sliced green beans, fresh, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 cup plain soy milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Spicy Onion Relish:

  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 4 teaspoons fresh lime juice (or lemon)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
  • salt to taste

Directions:

Place all the sauce ingredients into a large pot, bring to a boil, and cook, covered, over low heat until the cauliflower is tender, about 20 minutes.

Remove the bay and curry leaves, and puree everything else in a blender.

Return the sauce to the pot and add the chickpeas, potatoes, and green beans. Cook until the potatoes are tender and the sauce has thickened, about 20 minutes. Check the seasonings and add more as desired.

Add the soymilk and lemon juice, stir, and cook for 5 more minutes.

Relish:

Mix all ingredients and allow to stand for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend. It should be so spicy that a little goes a long way! It will keep refrigerated for several days.

I served all of this over left over brown rice that I had made a few days ago.

Enjoy!!!

Halloween Spider Treats – Recipe

Halloween Spooky Spider Treats

This is a fun way to spend a Sunday morning in the month of October. Or, prepare the Spooky Spiders for a Halloween party that you will be attending. No baking involved. Blend the ingredients together and mold. Here, let me show you:

This recipe will make approximately 24 spiders…

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (8oz) sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 package (9oz) chocolate wafer cookies
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup of light corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup soy milk, vanilla
  • Sugar Crystals, color of your choice
  • Mini-Tootsie Rolls
  • Sunflower seeds – I used plain, but it’ll be cute to use Candy Covered-Sunflower Seeds (Trader Joe’s)

Directions:

Place almonds and sugar in a food processor (or what you have to grind up) until coursely ground.

Crumble cookies into almond mixture; add cocoa powder and mix into crumbs.

Add corn syrup and soy milk; mix to combine. (I used a mixer)

Set the mixture aside for 30 minutes.  For the spider legs, use 1 mini-toosie roll for each spider. Tear candy into 4 parts. Roll each piece in the palm of your hands to a 3 1/2 inch rope. Line together all four ropes and connect in the center and press together. Separate the legs how you desire.

Press mixture into a Tbsp measure or roll with your hands; shape into the spiders body. Roll in sugar crystals. For head, repeat, but smaller…tsp measure…and roll into crystals.

To connect the body and head, I used a tooth pick. Place the spider onto the legs.

Insert two sunflower seeds into the head for the eyes.

Place on a decorative plate and surround with Candy Corn…

Wha la!!! Halloween Spiders to munch on!!!
